Review of Eastern Kentucky University

from Lexington, KY

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

You learn a lot if you make it to every class and do all the readings required. It's tough, but anyone can do it. Get to know your teachers, they help more than you'd think. And they do understand what is happening with all the changes in our lives, don't be afraid to let them know what's going on!

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

The residence life here is more than I thought it'd be. I went to Colonel Camp before school started, and it really helped introduce me to my best friends! The best part is we all live in the same dorm and on the same floor. I love that the campus is so small. It takes about 5 minutes to get anywhere, so when you're hungry or you want to work out or go study, it just takes a very short walk to get there.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

I am here on partial scholarship, so that makes it even more affordable. But the teachers here are great, and you really do learn a lot for the money you pay. Being so close to everything makes it even better.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Do your homework, study, and go to class! Talk to your teachers if you don't understand something or are having a tough time adjusting. They're very understanding and very willing to help. Live on campus, at least for your first year. And if at all possible, go to Colonel Camp. It really gets you acquainted and comfortable with the campus, and you'll meet a ton of new people who are willing to help and that are in the same boat you are. :)

Which types of students will excel at your college?

It's great if you come from a small town and want to keep it that way on campus. If you're like me, you'll love how close it is to home, but still far enough away to be gone.
