Duquesne University is the ideal foundation for a fruitufl future. Duquesne offers rigorous academics, extracurricular activities, friendly staff, and the feel of a larger University. Duquesne University is the perfect fit for those looking for an enjoyable college experience.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
My single and most import tip for prospective students would be to get involved. Duquesne offers so many wonderful extracurricular activites. From greek life, intramurals, study abroad, clubs, and campus ministry Duquesne has something for everyone. By getting involved with extracurricular activities you deversify yourself so much more as a person. You make new friends, learn new things, and better yourself for future success. Why not open yourself up and get involved with extracurricular activities? You would be foolish not to.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
The classes at Duquesne are difficult. Each class I have taken so far has been rigorous. Although, with that being said the Professors want you to succeed. Every Professor I have had, has been more than willing to help me. Their aid has been a great tool so far in my studies. I can not imagine being where I am today without them. I did not realize that most college Professors are not like this. I just assumed that because Duquesne's professors are like this, that it is the custom across the nation. That is not the case. Many of my friends from various other PA schools have told me that I 'lucked out here at Duquesne.
Describe the dorm life at your college.
Although I am a commuter, I can offer insight on dorm life. Many of my friends live on campus in various buildings. From what I have experienced and what I am told, Duquesne dorm life is a great experience. Everyone I know enjoys their time living on campus. This is accredited to Duquesne community feel. Although Duquesne houses nearly 4,000 students, many know eachother on a first name bases. It seems that, no matter where you go on campus you are bound to know someone. I do not believe many Universities can claim that.
*I only am willing to give it 4 stars because I have not experienced it yet myself. After this year I will be able to give you a more personal review.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
Duquesne's food and dining is delicous. They offer several different options and are continuing to expand. There newest addition Freshens has quickly become a student favorite. Instead of going into great detail about our food and dining I am going to attatch the schools link to campus dining: http://www.duq.edu/life-at-duquesne/dining They do it much more justice than I can.
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
Duquesne is in downtown Pittsburgh. That sentence alone should put in perspective all of the options available for a fun time. Due to its location the options of fun thins to do are nearly endless. Duquesne offers the southside, dining, shopping, sport venues, and more. For example, only two blocks away is Consol Engergy Center, home of the Pittburgh Penguins. Several times a year the Penguins offer Student Rush tickets. The gist of the Student Rush offer is that the Penguins reserve tickets specifically for college students for only $30. For those who know the NHL, they realize how unbeatable this offer is. I myself just took advantage of this offer today. I am going to the playoff game against the Rangers tonight. The kicker, I am sitting in the lower bowl (MSRP: 250).
