It’s a great college and the student life is fantastic; it’s nice and small and you can tell that the faculty here really care about their students. However, some of the degree programs have you jump through hoops that are ridiculous; I’m here to get an English degree not a well-rounded student degree. I find that aspect to be very irritating, but the teachers here are seriously amazing and will help you out with anything.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Don’t forget that you can get help with anything you’re struggling with. There’s a learning center, a writing center, office hours, and scheduled appointments you can make with the professor. Everyone wants you to succeed and they’ll try really hard to help make that happen.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
The food is amazing, but it definitely does get a little respective. I think that happens at every college though and the chef likes to try new things every once in a while and that’s exciting! But when the chef tries out French Bar, he makes sure to have “normal” food out for those that aren’t feeling quite so adventurous.
Describe the dorm life at your college.
Dorm life here is amazing! The halls are set up into little suites and you live with a group of other girls that will probably become your closest friends here.
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
The most fun areas near the college are definitely the college itself. The most interesting thing in this town is Cottey, but Cottey hosts a lot of special events and brings in musicians, comedians, magicians, and more! And of course, the movie theater here is really nice and has a very good price.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
Cottey is not an easy school; many people that have transferred to other schools have said that their courseload is much easier after leaving. That being said, there are still many classes that are actually easy or simply require you to put in a lot of hours outside of class time.
