CSU is a great university for students. It has great programs and classes. Not to mention that the campus is very beautiful!
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
If your considering if CSU is the school for you then I would say that a couple of things. You don't have to be extremely smart to get accepted here. I think CSU is more about learning then just memorizing things. The faculty is very helpful and friendly. Other students that go here are unique and different. It's interesting to see all the people who have come from different places and had different lives. This makes CSU a great place to learn more about other people's background.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
I would say that the academic rigor is decent. The work is where you have to actually try in classes. Which can be difficult for some people who are just use to having easy classes in high school. However I think the difficulty is very much worth it. It opens the door for you to learn things better if you struggle with the concepts and then finally are able to understand them. That way the information will stick better for you.
Describe the dorm life at your college.
I love dorm life. I have lived in the dorms for two years now and plan to live there for my entire college career. I just love the idea of living on campus with everything close to me. Not to mention getting all the sleep I can possibly accomplish, meaning I won't have to wake up super early to catch a bus to campus. Plus the dorms are super nice. There are the traditional dorms on campus where the entire floor shares a bathroom, which is called community style. These are cleaned every day, but not on the weekends. And then there are the suite-style bathrooms which a fewer people share a bathroom(3-4 people would share). these get cleaned once a week. My dorm is relatively quiet and everyone gets along with everyone and has respect for others. There are events set up by our RA that we all can do and we have dinner together every once in a while.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
I love the food!!! Each dinning center on campus has a variety of different food for you to enjoy. There is also options for vegetarians and vegans. The dining centers are very considerate for others who have different diets. There also the food court in the LSC, which has a some fast food restaurants that we all enjoys. Eating on campus is very affordable for students. Some including Subway, Panda, Carls Jr.,Taco Bell, and more. The majority of the time I eat on campus and I haven't got tired of the food yet!
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
Normally what I do for fun is explore Fort Collins. Hiking to the A or going to Old town to enjoy some food and shopping. You can also go to Horsetooth Reservoir which is extremely beautiful. The mountains are a great place to hike and enjoy the views that you observe. Mostly though I hang out with friends and we plan fun things to do.
How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?
CSU campus is relatively safe. I feel safe and comfortable on campus. Normally during finals week I'll stay on campus to 3:00am with other friends studying and I feel completely safe when I walk back to my dorm during this time. If your not comfortable walking alone late at night you can also call Safe Walk and two people will walk you where you need to go. There are also call boxes on campus if there is an emergency and there is the CSU police department on campus that do patrols. Overall I feel very safe on campus!
