Review of Campbell University

Describe your college in three sentences.

I am a student here. The heart and soul of Harnett County, Campbell University is home to a small beautiful campus and excellent academics. There doesn't seem a lot to do in the Creek if you don't search and look for events. Most students love it here but they complain about general education courses and weekend deadness.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Make sure to find a roommate or pray that you end up with someone that you can be friends with or at least tolerate. Ask around people already attending for the professors to get. Talk with professors and get to know them along with your fellow students. Make sure you either have a printer that has ink and a lot of paper or you have money to print. Once you are in a dorm it can take a long time to switch dorms, so pick the dorm you want to stay in. Always get books from another source other than the campus bookstore.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

4 stars for academics. The medical field is rising and the hardest of the programs and courses offered here. The Professor- students relationship is the most important t having the best academic experience. If the student doesn't care the professor doesn't care about giving the very best teaching (this is mostly true for math and science). If the work isn't done by the student the Professor doesn't help as much. Academic excellence is continually being placed upon the student to take initiative for learning. Professors want to teach and they get more in depth and do the harder more challenging things wit the students that want to learn.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

Girl's/Women's dorms get the first attention and he best attention. Girl's dorms I would give a 4 for appearance for the freshman ones and a 3 for all the other ones. Guy's get the run down dorms. They are the oldest and require a lot of maintenance from heat and a/c to mold and bats. Previous years dorms were the place where all the bad things happened but now nothing criminal is happening and dorm life is improving. Students start to accept other dorm mates for their differences and try to talk to everyone. There is always construction going on to renovate or build new dorms. It is only a matter of time when the male dorms will be made new and better.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

There are many places to eat and most of them take meal plan. Papa johns is the only one that doesn't take meal plan. There is a Mexican place that is good depending on who is working. There is a burger place that is very busy at lunch since it began taking meal plan. There is a sandwich place that is like Subway. There are 2 cafeterias one is dine in an the other take out. Breakfast is the great. Lunch and dinner at Marshbanks (dine in) is most of the time the same except for the home cooking which changes. There isn't a lot of variety. More healthier options are gaining ground at Marshbanks. There is ample seating everywhere. There are also 2 mini grocery stores on campus, but they are about double what you would pay at a regular store.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

Dorm events are great to attend. Sports and playing sports with friends is always good. There are events that the activities board puts on that range from movies to trips( trips cost money). There are free concerts and plays to attend. Club events are essential to being involved on campus. Community events are also great to be involved with to have fun. The library is always opened and hosts events that are actually fun sometimes. As at any college going out away from campus can be a fun time.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

Its a private school so spend you time and money here as efficiently and effectively as possible.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

The campus is mostly safe unless you count constant fire alarms every week that turn out to be nothing. The campus safety is always willing to help out even f you lock yourself out of your room at 3 in the morning.
