Review of California University of Pennsylvania

Describe your college in three sentences.

California University of Pennsylvania is located in a rural area. It has a wide selection of majors and programs to study from. CalU is a great choice for either undergraduate or graduate levels.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Like any college, be prepared to spend money. Nothing is cheap even down to food. Sign up for as many clubs and organizations as you can, as long as you have the time and the commitment. There isn't anything near by in terms of recreation so also be prepared to be either driving or relying on the FREE public transportation provided.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

CalU takes academics very seriously and the professors are fantastic. The professors encourage being engaged in the classroom and being proactive with both assignments and grades. Professors offer as much help as possible between their office hours and even scheduling appointments outside of their office hours to accommodate the students' needs.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

The dorms here are one of a kind. With many dorm buildings to choose from, the dorms include: carpeted bedrooms, AC/heating conditions, and a variety of bedroom types. While staying here you can choose what type of room you want to stay in: two person one bath, four person one bath, four person two bath, one person one bath, etc.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

Also like any college, the food here is decent. No type of food is going to be like mom's cooking. Be prepared to buy food from other places off campus.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

There isn't much to do on campus besides clubs/organizations or attend sporting events. Most of the recreational activities are located in Pittsburgh or farther away depending on the activity.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The first night on campus all incoming freshman or transfer students attend a candlelit ceremony followed by some fireworks.
