Review of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania

Describe your college in three sentences.

Bloomsburg University, BU in short, is a challenging but fun college experience. After applying to 10 schools and getting accepted to them all, Bloom was my first choice, and I couldn't have made a better decision.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Bloomsburg is selective and its getting more competitive every year with its high number of applicants. The biggest factor when it comes to the admissions decision is GPA so keep that high along with your SAT scores. Also, visit every campus that you apply to. One of the main reasons I choose Bloomsburg was because the campus just felt right.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

As a business major I take difficult classes. It's not easy but the professors make it worth it. Also the nearly 100% graduation placement rate gives you some incentive to pass your classes too. ;) As for gen eds, those aren't too hard but you will still pickup information from them. Overall you get a well rounded education coming to Bloomsburg and the professors will make you work for your grade.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

As a transfer I got to live in an on campus apartment my first semester here. So I have no complaints. But I have friends who live in dorms and their only complaint is noise. However, depending on your CA (some are more strict than others) that might not be an issue.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

It's hit or miss eating in the main dining hall. (Scranton Commons.) Some days they have good food, sometimes they don't. Thankfully there is a lot of variety if you end up getting bored of the Commons. For instance you can eat at Italian Kitchen, Subway, Monty's (in upper campus), or The Husky using your meal plan.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

There is a lot to do here. Whether you want to party or not, there is always something happening. If you go looking for a party, you will find one. If you want to stay in with a couple of friends and watch netflix, surely you will find others doing that to do. In town there are also multiple restaurants, a movie theater, and shops.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

As an out of state student from New Jersey, BU is still cheaper than most NJ state universities. Given the quality of education at bloomsburg, it's (mostly) modern facilities, and general college atmosphere I'm surprised at how inexpensive bloomsburg is.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Bloomsburg is great for just about anyone. The campus community is very diverse. You could be a nerd, gamer, partier, or athlete and always fit in. It's not like highschool, everyone is nice and accepting here. (For the most part.) Do note if your only interest is partying here, you will have to make some lifestyle changes to adapt to the academic rigor.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

I've only done marching band here which was only okay. I've heard great things about other clubs and activities though.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

It exists. You see events around campus promoting greek life along with various community service activities. It does not dominate the campus however and no one will judge you if you join greek life or don't.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

Bloomsburg is a safe town. I've never felt unsafe walking alone.
