Describe your college in three sentences.

AU will becomes a home away from home, and as an out-of-state student it was really important for me to have the feeling of home so that I didn't get home sick much. AU did a great job of making me feel welcomed and wanted. Everyone is so friendly and very helpful no matter your problem.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Get involved. Not only is it a resume builder, but it will keep you active and get you more friends than you would have if you would have just sat in your dorm room and waited for friends to appear. Also, everyone that will tell you that you will meet people that you will have life long connections with are totally right. You'll meet people that you would have though you've known since you were born. That's how well you'll connect with some of the people you meet! But you can't connect with people if you don't take advantage of the ways to make new friends!

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Like any other college, these classes are difficult if you don't do your work or show up to class. You have to take your academics seriously or you will regret it.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

Once I got into all my activities I didn't spend as much time as I would have liked in my dorm. But the time that I did spend in there I enjoyed. The people on my floor were nice and so was my RA.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

The food at AU is great. Most of the time no matter what you are in the mood for, you can find on campus. You have a lot of options of where to eat too. You can eat in the Lower Convocation Center or Convo, which is more of a cafeteria. There is also the Eagles Nest that is more of a grab and go spot. There is Tuffy's Smoothie Bar with is located in the Rec Center where you can get smoothies as well as other drinks and food. There is also the Schar Cafe located in the Dwight Schar College of Education; it's a smaller version of the Eagles nest without the grill. Each of these places is a great place to eat.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

The Campus Activities Board or CAB holds a lot of events for students. Greek life, along with other organizations and clubs also puts on a lot of things for students to go to. The rec center has intramural sports and club sports to play.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

Ashland is an expensive private university, however, they are very willing to help you with paying for college. If you let them know that you are not sure if you will be able to pay for college there, they will work with you to see what they can do about it.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The president of the university is very friendly and cares a lot about the students of AU. He participates in on campus activities and even the AU meme page on Facebook. He even gives the freshmen his phone number during his welcoming! I don't know another university that has a president that is as awesome as that!

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Ashland is great for students that like small classes and a lot of attention from professors. AU has a very friendly feel to it. AU's program for education is also fantastic. Unlike some universities, as an education major you are in the classroom starting your freshman year. Though the freshmen field experience is only a shadow or each academic level (elementary, middle, and high school), but the experience is very helpful and the involvement in the classroom grows as the year move on. Also if you are looking into political science or history, the Ashbrook program is a great program for you. It's definitely someone worth looking into. If you're into athletics AU has a great athletic program with great facilities for athletes or just athletic people in general.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

There are so many clubs and activities to do on campus. The only way that you really be bored is if you wouldn't take advantage of them. There are all types of intramural sports and club sports. There are pretty much clubs or organizations for anything that you would want from Anime Club to the AU Habitat for Humanity

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

At the moment I'm not in Greek life. However, most of my friends are, and I know that they love being in their fraternity or sorority. As a non-Greek all the activities that are planned are still a major part of what I do around campus. You don't have to be Greek to enjoy all that they have to offer campus. Though if you would like all the great leadership experience and sisterhood/brotherhood that comes from it, then I would recommend joining whenever you feel it appropriate. If you don't join when you're a freshmen you aren't going to be too late, trust me.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

Since Ashland is a small town I feel really safe on campus. I can walk around at like 3 in the morning and not feel the least bit unsafe. And during freshmen orientation you will be provided Safety Services number. They are open 24/7, so if there is ever anything that you would need them for, you can call them. They will even escort you back to your dorm if you don't feel safe doing it.
