Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

I am currently an Art Major, and of course everyone has to cover basic classes as well as your major concentration areas as well. I would have to say that the classes I've taken outside of my concentration area are really great. If your not that into math or science, they offer Intro to Business math which is WAY easy and the professor is a really funny guy, or they offer Astronomy, which is held in the Planetarium! So overall, in or out of your concentration area, your going to get a great experience in all of the different major departments.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

The campus has improved a lot over just the last year that I've attended! They have completely redone the Library and the Gym, as well as redone the walkways around campus, and added new housing units and recreational areas! The campus constantly has events going on that are offered to ASU students, as well as the San Angelo Community; the good thing is that student usually get in FREE! Anything from tailgating parties before football games, to Flamingo dance lessons, and movies in the Planetarium are available.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

I would have to say that ASU offers a lot of recreational, educational, and overall fun experiences on and off campus for students. The financial aid staff is always on top of their duties and keeping you informed of your situation. The school also offers a LOT of scholarships, most of which are geared towards incoming freshman. However, there are some scholarships such as the CARR scholarship which is grade based, and once received, if you keep your grades and classes at the requirement, you will receive it every year you attend.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

If you are planning on attending ASU, and have been accepted, register for housing AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!! I can't stress how important it is to register early to get the dorm you want! Also, I recommend finding an extracurricular activity such as a sport, religious group or club to join; it will help with making friends a lot easier and faster. Also, if your living on campus, then you are required to have a meal plan, so make the most of it! You are paying to go there, so eat there and save some cash! Students can eat at the Cafeteria, or the University Center. Parking: Make sure that you park in your designated parking zone, because you will get a ticket! I once witnessed one of the campus policeman taking a picture with his phone of a car that was parked crooked at the University Center, and they got a ticket! A bonus for on campus students or C zone students, you are free to park in B and D zones AFTER 1:00PM! A major tip is to also do research on the professors you are planning to take, ask current students, look online at Rate My Professor or even call and talk to them yourself; believe me you don't want to get stuck with someone you don't like! If you do happen to get stuck, don't worry, the first 2 weeks of school are Add/Drop week, which means you have two weeks to check and see if another class has space for you to transfer to!

Which types of students will excel at your college?

This school is great for students on a budget, who want a hometown feel mixed with the city, and for a diverse experience. There is a rich culture at ASU, you just have to experience it for yourself!
