A Piece of Wisdom:

“The best college choice is not just the most impressive one on paper; it is the one where you can see yourself learning, contributing, and becoming more fully yourself. Stay open, be honest about what matters to you, and do not be afraid to ask for help along the way.”

Megan Balicki

Megan Balicki

Senior Director,

Product Management

Megan Balicki is passionate about helping students navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives, what comes next after high school. As a Senior Director of Product Management at EAB, she leads teams that build tools designed to make the college search and decision process clearer, more personalized, and less overwhelming.

She’s spent her career working at the intersection of education and technology, focused on creating products that connect students with the right opportunities and support colleges in better serving them. Megan especially enjoys turning complicated processes into simple, useful experiences that actually help students take the next step with confidence. She also loves helping people grow, whether that’s mentoring teammates or sharing real-world insights about careers and navigating change.

Megan holds a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.), a Master’s in Computer Science, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources. Outside of work, you’ll find her traveling, trying new restaurants, or planning her next adventure with her daughters.

A Piece of Wisdom

"There’s no single 'right' path, just the one that’s right for you. Stay open, try new things, and don’t be afraid to change direction along the way."

Jonathan April

Jonathan April

Managing Director,

College Greenlight

Jonathan April works to help more students find and succeed in college. As Managing Director of College Greenlight, he leads a national network that connects colleges with community-based organizations and schools to support students through the application process—especially those who may not always have access to clear guidance or resources.

Since helping to launch College Greenlight in 2012, Jonathan has helped grow the network to include 400+ colleges and universities and 1,400+ partner organizations, all working together to expand opportunities for students. (He has also supported his own two sons through the college process—one is now a graduate, and the other is thriving in college.)

A Piece of Wisdom:

"If your college list only includes well-known schools, you’re likely missing great options. Take time to explore and add colleges you haven’t heard of—you might find the perfect fit."

Keishla Caeser-Jones

Keishla Caeser-Jones

Managing Director, Partner Success

Keishla Ceaser-Jones leads the Appily Virtual Tour Partner Success team at EAB, where she helps institutions bring their stories to life in ways that resonate with today’s students. Her work centers on strengthening how colleges showcase their brand, culture, and academic opportunities through digital experiences that feel personal, engaging, and real.

She is especially focused on helping partners and her team harness immersive and AI-powered technology to create connections that go beyond information—experiences that reflect what students truly care about as they explore their next step.

Keishla works cross-functionally to advance partner success and innovation initiatives that deepen engagement and drive measurable impact. She brings together data, creativity, and strategy to help institutions navigate complexity while staying focused on what matters most: reaching students in authentic and meaningful ways.

She believes the best work happens when curiosity, creativity, and collaboration come together—and when people are willing to challenge assumptions and try new approaches.

Her approach is grounded in collaboration, curiosity, and a belief that the most effective solutions come from blending human insight with evolving technology.

A Piece of Wisdom:

Progress over perfection—momentum will take you further than waiting for the “right” moment.

Kristina Sharkevich

Kristina Sharkevich

Managing Director,

Audience Generation Partner Success

Kristina joined EAB (previously The Advisory Board) in 2010 holding roles across Marketing and Account Management. Currently, she oversees the Appily Partner Success team at EAB, where she spends her time thinking about one big question: how do we help partners see more value, drive stronger outcomes, and make the work easier for the teams supporting them?

Kristina is especially passionate about turning complex workflows into practical systems people can use. Whether she’s supporting partner progress, improving compliance, or helping teams prepare for stronger growth, she brings a thoughtful, organized, and outcomes-focused approach to the work.

She believes great execution comes from clear expectations, strong collaboration, and a willingness to keep refining the process until it works better for everyone.

A Piece of Wisdom:

Find what works for you and build from there. The small systems and habits you create now—like staying organized or managing your time—can make a big difference later.

Michael Koppenheffer

Michael Koppenheffer

Vice President,

Enroll360 Marketing, Innovation and AI Strategy

Michael has spent years and years helping colleges and universities better connect with students through storytelling and technology. At Appily, he focuses on how we can make the college search process feel less stressful, more personal, and more accessible for students and families.

Michael is especially passionate about helping students understand how college can prepare them for a fast-changing, AI-driven world. When he’s not exploring the latest in AI or marketing trends, Michael is probably playing guitar, hiking a mountain, or cooking a homemade pizza.

A Piece of Wisdom:

AI is changing how we work, but it won’t replace curiosity, creativity, or the ability to connect with other people. College is one of the best places to build those skills, and they’ll matter no matter what the future looks like.

Emily Niedermeier

Emily Niedermeier

Managing Director,

Appily Marketing

Emily Niedermaier leads marketing for Appily, where she spends her time thinking about one big question: how do we make the college search feel a little less overwhelming - and a lot more exciting - for students and families?

She oversees student marketing, counselor engagement, brand strategy, and partner campaigns, working across teams to grow Appily’s reach and impact. In 2023, Emily led the transformation of Cappex into Appily, a full rebrand focused on better reflecting the platform’s mission to help students explore, plan, and apply to college with confidence.

Emily joined EAB in 2022 after more than a decade in digital marketing and advertising, including roles supporting mission-driven organizations, agency work, and even professional sports. She’s passionate about building experiences that are both useful and human - and about helping students see opportunities they might not have thought possible.

She believes the best ideas come from great people working together, a healthy bit of curiosity, and being willing to try something new (even if it doesn’t work the first time).

A Piece of Wisdom:

"Have a plan, but stay open to unexpected opportunities. Some of the most meaningful moments in your career and life come from paths you didn’t originally expect to take."

Yolanda Coleman

Yolanda Coleman

Director,

Postsecondary Partnerships & Engagement

As a first-generation college student from a rural town, Yolanda knows firsthand how powerful the right guidance, encouragement, and information can be. For more than 15 years, she has worked across K–12 and higher education, walking alongside students and families as they ask big questions, weigh their options, and find their fit.

She found hers at Appily, where she serves as the Director of Counselor Marketing. In this role, she collaborates with counselors to help students and families understand their options and feel supported as they make important decisions. Whether she’s supporting counseling teams, engaging with families, or partnering with community-based organizations, her goal remains the same: to help every student identify a postsecondary path where they belong and can thrive.

Yolanda's career spans college counseling, merit scholarship programs, highly selective admissions, and advisory boards, giving her a broad and nuanced understanding of the college journey. She earned a Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and undergraduate degrees in Journalism and Black Studies from the University of Missouri.

A Piece of Wisdom:

Your background isn't a barrier. It's preparation and purpose.

Wenie Lado

Wenie Lado

Associate Director,

Student Experience, Appily

Wenie Lado is a higher education strategist who partners with institutions to implement restorative, innovative, and collaborative approaches to student recruitment. As Associate Director of Student Experience at Appily, she bridges advocacy and action—supporting K–12 districts, counselors, and families in helping students explore and pursue their postsecondary goals.

She designs and leads programs that equip students, educators, and caregivers with the tools to navigate college and career planning, while helping institutions better understand and engage the next generation of learners. Her work centers on ensuring that student perspectives inform institutional practice—aligning enrollment strategies with the realities, aspirations, and leadership of today’s students.

Prior to joining Appily, Wenie worked in college admissions at two liberal arts institutions, where she led recruitment initiatives and pre-college programs designed to expand access for historically underrepresented and underserved students.

A Piece of Wisdom:

“Do not let fear convince you that you are unqualified for opportunities you have not even explored yet. College planning is not about becoming the ‘perfect’ student, it’s about learning more about yourself, your goals, and the kind of future you want to build.”

Shilo Lucyk

Shilo Lucyk

Associate Director,

Content Strategy

Shilo Lucyk creates college and scholarship resources for Appily, built for students who want real answers without the stress spiral. Before joining Appily, she taught middle and high school English and loved helping students connect strong writing to real opportunities after graduation. Now she brings that same classroom energy to her work, breaking down the college process into clear, supportive guidance that helps students move forward with confidence.

Shilo earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico and also studied in the M.Ed. program at Xavier University. When she is off the clock, she is usually playing tennis, walking her dog, or soaking up the sun at a pool party.

A Piece of Wisdom:

"If you're deciding what to do after high school, remember that you don’t need to have everything figured out. You need a next step that’s realistic and doable, something you can actually start and learn from. I graduated from high school and started working and going to community college. That helped me figure out what I was most interested in and made college more affordable. I earned my associate's degree, then moved on to a bachelor's degree program at my local university. After graduating from that, I began and finished a master's degree program. As the popular quote goes: You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step."

Michael Matheny

Michael Matheny

Content Strategist

Before bringing content to life on the Appily team, Michael spent over five years managing social media and producing multimedia content within higher education. As a first-gen college student, he knew the power of higher ed firsthand and used that knowledge to craft meaningful narratives on the value of a college degree through the screen. Now, he has the privilege of telling the stories of the life-changing college experience on a gargantuan scale through video production, visual design, and digital content creation.

Michael holds a Master’s in Strategic Communication from American University and a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication from Winthrop University. When he's not crafting visual stories here at Appily, you can find Michael catching his next flight to a brand new country, cuddling his dog (as the big spoon, of course), or going all-out for whatever holiday is next on the calendar!

A Piece of Wisdom:

"Never assume that you aren’t good enough. Be realistic about your expectations, but don’t let test score averages and GPAs stop you from chasing after your dream. You’d be amazed at what you can do!"
