This scholarship is for a student seeking a degree at an accredited college, university, technical institute or community college who demonstrates a clear-cut educational objective in his or her course of study and whose ability to continue his or her education will be impacted substantially by the scholarship award. Recipients of the scholarships will be only those students who graduate in the top 25% of their class (students in magnet high schools are exempt from this requirement). Preference is given to full-time students and those are full-time or part-time employees of Tryon Estates or the children or grandchildren of employees of Tryon Estates. This scholarship may be renewed for three consecutive years in college, provided the recipient demonstrates satisfactory progress in school. The preference is for larger and fewer grants.
