This award is presented for a film that challenges cultural messages about beauty and offers a more encompassing view of what makes a person beautiful beyond appearance. Television, movies, magazines, and social media send a steady stream of glamorous, “sexy” images that pressure girls to conform to unrealistic cultural notions about beauty. This has a huge negative impact, and many women and girls struggle to gain positive self-esteem. We also welcome submissions for this category about an invincible girl/woman who is other abled or don’t fit into these stereotypes.
