Golar W. and Nezzie V. Carter Scholarship

Durham Public Schools Scholarship Foundation

In 2011 the estate of Nezzie Carter established the scholarship in memory of Ms. Carter and her beloved mother, Mrs. Golar Carter. This scholarship is to be awarded to a student from Jordan High School. Ms. Carter served as a lead counselor at Jordan High School for more than 25 years. Ms. Carter also played an integral part in the establishment of the DPS Scholarship Foundation. This scholarship is for students who have demonstrated leadership in their school and community by helping others.

The applicant must possess good character, individualism and integrity. The scholarship requires an overall GPA of 3.0 and acceptance into an accredited college of university.
