Review of Weber State University

from Ogden, UT

Describe your college in three sentences.

Weber State has been an excellent and affordable school for those seeking a higher education. It is a place where one can study and feel safe from many of the problems plaguing our society. It is also a place where each student can enter the pathway to success.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Just because Weber State is cheaper than other universities in the surrounding area, I highly recommend putting the time to study for each class and set time aside to be able to complete the homework assignments. All of the professors I have had there so far have been excellent and have helped me learn so much more about the subjects they taught. Quite basically, anyone can get what they need from each course if they just work for it. Just as a tip for those who are considering Weber State, I recommend taking some general classes to ease into life at Weber State.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Depending on the major you choose, the classes can become quite tough. It all depends on the professor, but I recommend taking general education classes first to avoid being overwhelmed. Once you have picked out your major, don't load your schedule with just classes for your major, but take a couple of electives that you will need or a couple of general ed classes with your required classes in order to have a variety of classes each semester.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

I honestly didn't eat much there since I live in the area, but the times I did eat there, I was satisfied with the options they had available. They have a variety of different restaurants which serve: sub sandwiches, sushi, mexican dishes, pizza/pasta, etc which are all good.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

There are a lot of hikes in the area which are fun when it is warm. Weber State also rents out equipment for kayaking, boating, rock climbing and an assortment of other activities.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

I can honestly say that I have always felt safe at Weber State. I hear the unfortunate events that happen in other parts of the country, but I feel that the officers there are doing their best and that I don't have to watch my back for the worst case scenario. Plus, Weber State has practice drills once a semester for those who would like to know what to do in a dangerous situation.
