Review of Wartburg College

from Marion, IA

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

Wartburg College offers a liberal education, which basically means that you learn a lot of different things beyond just your major. For example, I am a Music Education major, but I am in an English class and a Chemistry class. At first I thought that I would not enjoy taking more gen eds than I would have at other schools, but I feel like it is actually a really great thing that will make me more attractive to future employers.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

I love the campus here! It is small, but not so small that I feel like I need to get away. Because of it's size, I get a lot more attention from my professors and have never felt lost in a sea of students. Even from my first visit here I saw how incredibly friendly everyone is here! You can always find someone to talk to, and there are plenty of groups and activities that are open to everyone. I love it!

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

The so-called sticker price of Wartburg is a scary one! But the scholarships and financial aid help out so much! In the end, Wartburg was much cheaper for me to go to than any public State schools; I have heard many of my friends say the same thing. I feel like I am learning so much more than I would have at a larger school, because I get so much one on one attention and help from my professors.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

1) Don't let the sticker price scare you! 2) Get involved. . . there is so much to do and time flies! Make it worth while! 3) Actually do your homework. Some teachers will never notice if you don't, but classes will be so much more enjoyable (and your grade will like it too!). 4) Be yourself - college is a place to find people who love you for you!

Which types of students will excel at your college?

1) Those who want to be able to stand out and not be lost in the crowd 2) Music, Pre-Med, or Ed majors! 3) People who LOVE to be involved in many activities. 4) Friendly, happy-go-lucky folks 5) EVERYONE!!
