Review of University of the Pacific

from Monterey, CA

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

I am a Computer Science (BS) undergraduate student and I love Pacific! I've always been interested in Video Game Simulation and Development but I was worried that with no experience I would be unable to pursue it. It turned out that Pacific was a great way for me to get started. Professors are very helpful and there are so many tutoring resources that you can seek out.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

I have made many friends since attending: I am a Student Advisor helping out with the incoming freshman class, I am a Residential Assistant helping to maintain orderly conduct in the residence halls, and I am an active member of the Pi Kappa Alpha, Kappa Nu chapter on campus as a scholarship chairman.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

Pacific is more expensive than CSUs and UCs but it's the correct fit for me. A great education, free tutoring, sports, Greek life, free gym membership, and so much more, it's hard to imagine myself at any other school. And besides, Pacific's financial aid services are great as well, helping students to find a way to attend. They don't leave you in the dust like other schools I had to deal with.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Always look into the schools you're applying to before you go head first into deciding. Be proactive! Don't wait until the last minute to decide to start researching. Once you're admitted and attending, keep up with your studies, your social life, and whatever else makes you happy so you don't fall behind on anything. Minimize the margin for error so it helps you in the long run.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

For students who want to excel, want to grow, and want to be able to look back and honestly say that they do not regret their choice of a university.
