Emily's Review

Review of University of New Hampshire-Main Campus

from Boston, MA

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

After completing my first year at UNH, I have learned so much both academically and mentally. All my professors have offered their time to help you succeed in the class. There are a number of resources that are always available too, like the writing and math centers.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

I absolutely loved my first year at UNH. There is always something to do outside of your classes. I participated in a couple intramural teams, and joined several clubs. UNH offers such a variety of activities that there's something for everyone. I never had time to be homesick or bored.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

Even though I am paying out-of-state tuition, I never felt like I was wasting my money. If you take advantage of all the courses and activities UNH offers, it's worth it. Every college is expensive, but the quality of UNH exceeds many others.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Sitting in the front in large lectures and meeting with your professors for extra help regularly will definitely help you succeed academically. This may also seem repetitive, but get involved with something on campus. It's a great way to meet friends with similar interests, since it is a relatively big school. I've never heard anything negative about UNH; it's a great university with many options and opportunities.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

I think UNH is great for everyone. There's such a diverse group of people that attend this university, that it's clear everyone can succeed. Students who like smaller schools can live in a small dorm or join a smaller club, or students who prefer the city can easily hop a bus or train to Portland, Portsmouth or Boston. Anyone can live happily at UNH.
