Amanda's Review

Review of University of Florida

from New Port Richey, FL

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

Most of the professors are always willing to help out and make you want to learn. There is also TutoringZone for those classes which pose more of a challenge or teaching assistants who sit around and wait for you to ask questions.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

The school spirit is so infectious it's crazy. You will love being around for any sporting event whether its gymnastics or football. There is always something to do whether its tubing at Lake Wauburg, floating down the river at Jennie Springs or partying at Midtown.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

One of the least expensive state schools in Florida and also one of the cheapest housing areas in the state. There is also buses to take you practically anywhere in the area so you don't have to waste your own gas.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Definitely get involved with whatever organization/group you can. It will help you get over the whole idea of being away from home. Make sure you study for classes and don't wait until the last minute cause you will regret it. I would recommend living on campus for the first year but not wasting your money on the meal plan.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Those who are self motivated as the curriculum can be very difficult and no one is staying on top of you to make sure you get things done. Also great for those who like getting involved and are very school spirited.
