Review of University of Evansville

from Bartow, FL

Describe your college in three sentences.

The university has competent and caring professors that give each student the attention they need. I feel as though Evansville is a home away from home because I feel extremely comfortable there and have made lasting friends. Evansville has one of the best programs for my field of study and has professors teaching that are still active in the field as well.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

If you can, attend road trip. It is a great way to get to know the school and some of your future classmates. It gives the opportunity to visit mock classes and go to fun events around campus too. While they school is amazing, it is a private school and therefore is costly. You will have to keep up work on scholarships if you're someone like me and affording college is a concern. The cost is definitely worth it though. The school is welcoming and creates a small close-knit community.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

If you keep up in your classes, you shouldn't have any issues. Don't get behind on reading and try to not procrastinate on long term projects. Some classes aren't very difficult and some will take a lot of study time out of your day. I think it is a good balance. I still have time for all my rehearsals and time to be involved in sorority.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

All the dorms are great. There are different options for dorms. There is an all girls dorm and all guys dorm. There are also multiple coed dorms that separate boys and girls by floor or by section. There are also apartment and townhouse options for upper classmen.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

There is a decent variety of food at the cafe court. If you don't have a regular eating schedule you can also get meals from the little convenient type store on campus.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

I spend most of my free time hanging out with sorority sisters watching movies or doing stuff like karaoke and playing video games. Sometimes we will go out to mall as well or go for a hike at the nearby nature preserve.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Echo point. It is a spot in the front of campus by the flag poles that if you stand in the very center, it amplifies your voice.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

I would definitely recommend Greek life. It gives people the opportunity to meet new people and make forever friends.
