Describe your college in three sentences.

i love the university for three reasons, the first being that the campus is extremely diverse, the class sizes are small so i am able to get to know my professor and ask for help, and there are a ton of organizations on campus that allow you to get involved and contribute your ideas.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

i recommend if you are interested to come visit and see it it's the right fit for you. i think it's just big enough to make new friends but small enough to form a group, but it's not for everyone. i also recommend getting involved right away. once you get involved you're in the know about what's happening on campus and can make friends with similar interests. also to go to events! i've learned so much about other cultures besides my own by attending international student coffee hours and different events on campus.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

i am a double major in international political economy and diplomacy and religion and politics and feel as though my classes were pretty challenging. not every class is crazy intense though, but i had a 50-page thesis my senior year, and lots of papers, debates, projects providing academic challenges.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

i am a commuter and don't live on campus. i've seen the dorms and they look fine, but i don't have any comparison.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

i usually bring my own lunch from home, but the burgers from the hub are really good! i'm addicted to coffee from the scribe. i like marina for brunch everyone once in awhile but i do not think eating there every day would work for anyone.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

there's a lot going on off and on campus. there's so many different events being held and there's a newsletter sent out once a week that lets all students know what's happening on campus whether it be school sponsored parties, free yoga, and athletic events.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

i was involved with student government, global affairs society, and started ub rotaract club. the only reason i got involved was because a senior pulled me in. there's definitely a club for everyone. i would, however say there aren't a million events on the weekend, but there is always something going on.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

i've lived in the bridgeport area for 10+ years and i've never had an issue with feeling safe. i wouldn't walk from the train to ub at night, however. each student gets a p.a.l. personal alarm locator that kind of works like life alert, so if you press it in an emergency security will get an alert and come to you within a few minutes. i've never had to press it, and i leave campus sometimes at midnight. definitely, use your common sense though as the school is in an urban city.
