I would recommend UB to anybody. There is a lot of activities on campus and trips to go on which is a good way to get out of campus. Academic is good and overall no matter what college you go to it's up to you to make the best out of it.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Learn how to save money! Before October even ended people had already wasted their dining dollars and were asking people to purchase things for them. BE YOURSELF. Don't do things that you normally wouldn't do. Don't try so hard to fit in with the crowd because you'll only hurt yourself at the end. Get involved campus get to know people because you will be seeing their face almost everyday because the campus is not that big. Furthermore, Ladies maintain yourselves clean! That means brush teeth, take showers, does, laundry, and maintain room fresh clean air and looking decent. Act like you got some type of home training. If one of your closet friends on campus, roommate or anyone tells you that you have an odor take it into consideration and do something about it.One more thing if you smoke just go to Seaside Park across the street because the smell is gross, not everyone smokes and can stand the smell, and you'll most likely get caught if you do so inside because there are snitches in this school just like any other place.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
So far I did not have any major problems with my professors or on their teachings. You going to encounter boring classes, but that's normal throughout our academic years. Some teachers may have an accent making it difficult to understand, but that's why their is tutors to help you out and you also may have friends that can help you too.
Describe the dorm life at your college.
Dorming life has been great so far, I haven't had any problems with my roommate which is the problem that most people do have. When there is a problem I've seen it get resolved quick. It's even more fun when you and your friends get together at your dorm or someone else's dorm and hangout, play video games, listen to music, talk, or just eat food. Besides fun times there are some downfall. For instance, people letting the door slam, people not cleaning up after themselves, and the wifi is not too good.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
The food is pretty good i'll say. There are different types of food and different places where you can get it. For instance there is marina dining hall where there is a buffet part and fast food place known as the HUB. Then there is Fresh Tossed that is downstairs in the Student Center which like a healthy eating place. Depending on what meal plan you applied for is the amount of dining dollars that you receive. Just make sure to use the money wisely.
Are you involved in any clubs or activities?
There is a lot of clubs on UB that I wasn't aware about until I went to the fair that they had at the beginning of the semester. Like Zumba, Yoga, African Student Association, Caribbean Student, Black Student Association, Stepping, Ballroom dancing, Red Cross Club, and many more. There is really so much to do, if you complain its boring it's probably because you don't do much to get involved around campus and get to know people.
How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?
When walking around campus you see them a couple times, but when it comes to an emergency is if they disappeared because they take long time to get to you. I never had to push my P.A.L (Personal Alarm Locator) before for an emergency but I had a roommate who needed security for an emergency and they took forever to arrive. Other than that Security is roaming around on campus a couple times in car, bike, or on feet.
