Review of University of Baltimore

from Baltimore, MD

Describe your college in three sentences.

The University of Baltimore (UB) is very diverse, intellectual and rewarding. On a scale of one through ten, UB is a outstanding ten. UB is a wonderful bridge in transforming students into better citizens of the United States.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

If you are suggesting UB as your college choice, make the move! The University of Baltimore is a small intimate university that helps students adjust to college life. UB offers free tutoring, rigorous courses and great social events.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

The work at UB is very challenging if you are not used to heavy work loads. Personally, UB's not ivy-league challenging but the work requires attentive students willing to come to class prepared.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

Dorm life at the University of Baltimore is different. UB is a city-life school - in the heart of Downtown Baltimore. The school partners with apartment complexes in the area for affordable living arrangements to accompany student's needs.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

The best part of UB's social aspect is also a pro and a con. There are tons of food diners surrounding the university. The con is that these food diners take your money. It's hard to save surrounded by such delicious eateries. I recommend you stay away from eating out every day unless you have the money. It will leave a large hole in your pocket.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

Let's See! If you're looking for extreme fun, it's best to find some friends who have off-campus housing or reside in a campus apartment partnered with the school. I recommend you attend the social events at UB. Some of them are entirely free and some have small fees ($2-$5).

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

The University of Baltimore is fairly cheap for the tuition and fees. The tuition includes things that most universities don't offer. Take advantage of the writing center which helps edit your paper or take advantage of the free tutors who are more than willing to meet with you. UB also has a great library for students to engage in books, eBooks or DVDs. I would only suggest a meal plan in the fees.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

The best part, in my opinion, is the different clubs and organizations on campus. Every one is so inviting and friendly. These clubs vary from religious groups, major-based groups or other things that people have in common. If there's not a group on campus that you're interested in, you can also create one.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

The University of Baltimore has the BEST safety team I've ever seen. Patrol cars are usually parked on certain corners of the campus. If you sign up for campus text alerts, you receive free notifications every time a crime is committed in the surrounding neighborhoods and on campus. There are campus patrol officers who regularly check the buildings every hour or two. If ever you are afraid to walk alone to your apartment, the police officer is willing to walk with you for free. UB is one of the most safest campuses in the U.S.
