Describe your college in three sentences.

The University of Arkansas strives to make your college experience unique by recognizing individual students instead of losing them in the crowd. Set on a beautiful campus, the University of Arkansas offers an extensive variety of student groups, intramural sports, and on campus tutoring. The UofA is a campus with fun traditions, qualified professors, and is a great place to call home.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Whether or not you live on campus or commute daily, utilize the transit system. The campus is set on a hill and it can be a work out getting around. The transit system operates on a tight schedule and is very handy. Though bigger lecture classes may not take attendance, go to class. Nothing will maintain a good GPA like high attendance. Also, the University of Arkansas offers free on campus tutoring. Take advantage of this! The University wants you to succeed and has many resources to help their students do so.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

The University of Arkansas curriculum is moderately rigorous. Students who attend classes, study regularly and take good notes should do well. For students who want a harder course of study, they offer an excellent honors program.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

Dorm life is definitely what you make of it. The UofA has one all girls' dorm and the rest are co-ed. Each dorm has their own special qualities and fun activities. If you leave your door open and go to dorm functions, you will meet many people on your floor who can become your best friends or study buddies.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

There are many dining halls on campus. Even for students not living on campus, there are meal plans available. Aside from dining halls, there are a variety of restaurants on campus ranging from Starbucks to Chick Fil A to a fancy bed and breakfast. Surrounding campus are hundreds of fast food places and sit down restaurants. Right off of campus is Dickson St., which is made up of bars and restaurants that offer students specials and discount nights.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

While being involved on campus is fun, there are several things to do off campus. There is a bowling alley, put put golfing, laser tag courses, and parks. The city of Fayetteville has bike trails that run through it as well as gorgeous lakes and camp sites like Devil's Den. For those wanting a late night scene, Dickson Street is located right off campus and has several bars and clubs, some of which have live music.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

Tons of businesses and restaurants in Fayetteville offer student discounts and specials. There are several bookstores around town that sell new and used books. At the end of the semester, these stores will buy the books back from students. There are even stores that rent books. There are also several thrift stores that will buy clothes for students needing a little extra money.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

If you know anything about Arkansas, we are crazy about our Razorbacks! The student sections at all sporting events always hum with excitement and energy. Students actually camp out for football games. For those more interested in academic traditions, the University has a senior walk in which each year's graduates get their names engraved on the sidewalk.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

The University of Arkansas has a large number of exchange students as well as out of state students. Many classes will vary from large, 300 person lectures, to small, 30 person classes. People from small towns and high schools, as well as from large towns and high schools, will find it easy to adjust with the variety of class sizes.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

The UofA has their own police force who patrol regularly. The University also has an on campus program called safe-ride. Safe-ride offers rides to students after dark from parking lots, dorms, and dining halls.
