Haven's Review
Review of The Master's University and Seminary
In which ways do you feel you are learning and growing?
I feel I am learning most in my understanding of the arts. Through my studies of music and history of art, I have come to a better understanding of the intricacies of crafting creative art. I have grown in not only my knowledge of techniques and terms, but also in my practical artistry and my desire to get out there and create and share my art, whether that be in my fiction writing, such as short stories that have been inspired by my classes, or my digital art hobby, which has been motivated by my art history class.
How are you enjoying your time at this college?
Very much enjoying it, especially the core classes so far. Some of the general education is a bit tedious and is where I myself get lower grades, such as in the Bible overview classes. But that may be because I am simply not as gifted there as in my more creative classes such as English and art. It takes work, all college classes do, but in the end it pays off and ig greatly enjoy the feeling I get knowing I have new knowledge. The atmosphere of class is at times boring and not set up exactly for making friends, but I enjoy the content and teachers.
What tips can you share with prospective students?
Be yourself. Don’t try to force out a good grade based on cheating or any such means, just study and don’t get distracted. You may have to leave something behind: hobbies, anime, movies, phone time, etc, but I advise doing that. It’s a worthwhile sacrifice to have time to study and learn and thus in turn get good grades because of your hard work. The Masters University may be easier in a lot of ways than most colleges, but don’t think it will be a breeze. Work hard and don’t dilly dally. Do summer classes. Get it done and learn from it.
What qualities do you have that have best prepared you for success at this institution?
My interest in creation and the arts. My love for writing and my experience in just doing it for fun has greatly helped in my creative classes, whether they where creative writing classes or just were classes in general. In the same vein as that, my experience writing many essays and book reviews in High School has led to me being able to get good grades and quality papers. So all the qualities I received from a good classical homeschooling are what have tremendously prepared me for this college. My qualities of educational excitement and love for the arts has prepared me well for doing a creative writing degree here.
