Review of The Art Institutes

from Willmar, MN

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

In this school, you need to take everything that you are learning and apply it to your degree yes, even the generals. A lot of students do not like the generals but they are helpful when you put the effort in them towards your degree. You also need to take advantage of the teachers. A lot of the teachers also have businesses outside of school and this helps immensely for networking. This is something to be aware of when you are handing in assignment and showing up to class on time, they will notice and it will help you out with internships and connections later on.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

Yes, it is a very independent place and that is exactly what I wanted. I did not want a University. the people here are very friendly and willing to help you out, but they expect you to be responsible for yourself and your work. I strongly suggest to get involved with groups it helps build a community in the school, a lot of the time you will recognize faces when walking in the hall and when you join groups and get involved you can put a name to the face.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

It is pretty expensive, and unless you put in the effort you will not get the bang for the buck. take advantage of the location and people and it is well worth it. The teachers know what they are talking about and are very useful. Also financial aid is very willing to try and help you out and give you resources for grants and scholarships!

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Don't be afraid to ask if you don't know how to use a program or don't know something. Teachers are here to help us and love to see students wanting to learn about design in general. I did not know how to use any of the programs for design and now I can confidently say that I feel comfortable in all of them.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Independent, Passionate, Driven, Interested in any kind of design, artistic, fun!
