Just because this is a community college does not mean you won't learn a lot! The teachers here are wonderful and, just like any other teacher, they are here for you and want you to strive to do your best. They are always offering help after classes if you don't understand something, as well as being a tutor for you. The learning commons is also another place that you can receive immense amounts of help. It is full of tutors and fellow students who are only there to help. Not only do you get a good education, this time of your life is where you are shaping your future. TCC plays a huge role in that part and teaches you many things you need in life.
Do you enjoy the experience at your school?
School is definitely just school, but TCC is a very nice place to be. This is definitely one of the nicest community college campuses around Florida. There is always something going on at the campus whether it's an athletic game or just the market place Thursday. With it always being so busy around that just means that there is always someone to talk to on campus. It's always great meeting new people. The location of this campus is great as well. With smaller schools around, as well as FSU, you really feel like you are in a huge college town. But like I said school is just school so you have to make the best of being on campus and get involved.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
You do get your bang for your buck at TCC. The classes are more than worth it, and I suggest you take as many classes as possible, learning is always something you can get more of. If you are on Bright Futures make sure you are taking the classes that you need and not just random ones to pass the time or take the easy way out. Once the money for those credits are out, you're paying out of your pocket for classes.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
You wouldn't go on a trip without planning a little, so I suggest looking into the classes and teachers you want to take. For those of you on Bright Futures, make sure you pick your classes wisely because you only get so many credit hours. Meet people in your classes and see if you can split the price of books with them, because they are VERY expensive. Also, if you meet people then you have a friend in case you miss class one day, but that won't happen now will it! One thing you should definitely do is GET INVOLVED! Join a honors group, clubs, work somewhere on campus, help out in the Learning Commons, do something! To get places in life you need to have connections and know people, and that all starts with getting involved. But most of all have fun while your in college. Your only here once, so live it up and learn as much as you can.
Which types of students will excel at your college?
TCC is a great college for ANY student. Being at a community college you really get to see a huge diversity of people. From people of any age, to any ethnicity you will definitely fit in. Also, with having such a great diversity of people you get to know others and their culture. Everyone at TCC is very welcoming and it really adds the the great atmosphere that is already here.
