What you learn is very dependent on what you put into it. If you're really eager to learn, there are a ton of great faculty that are eager to share their knowledge.
Did enjoy being here
LOVED it here. If you are respectful and demonstrate that you are there to learn, the faculty and staff bend-over-backwards to help you.
Loved living in Jefferson Hall. Moved off campus and hated it -- moved back to Jefferson.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
Has to be one of the best values out there.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Visit the campus! The HS Relations staff is fantastic.
Make friends with people that live in the dorms -- they are on the ones that know about the fun stuff going on.
Even if you live off campus, consider getting a campus meal plan.
Find ways to show the faculty that you are there to learn. Ask questions in class, take advantage of office hours to ask in-depth questions. The key at SWOSU is to separate yourself from some of the other students who are kind of coasting.
Join a club -- any club -- just to get plugged-in to meet new people. If you're not sure what's best for you, stop by the VP of Student Affairs' office for help.
As it gets closer to graduation, you need to take charge of your own job search. When I was there (in the mid-90s) virtually no recruiters came to campus and the office wasn't much help.
Which types of students will excel at your college?
Students who want to balance academics with the social aspects of college life.
Students looking for a campus with friendly people.
