Review of South Dakota State University

from Webster, SD

Describe your college in three sentences.

South Dakota State University has the programs I'm looking for and at lower rates than my other choice, North Dakota State University. South Dakota State University also has many more opportunities for myself and others for fun and participation for anything we're interested in. I'm really looking forward to starting class at SDSU.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

I recommend going on a campus tour and get to know at least one of the students there. I learned about my tour guide, Mara, and she was very eager to show us what makes the Jackrabbits such a proud University. The students here are diverse and fun to be with, and are very competitive with sports. They're also very competent in discoveries of meats in the Animal Science programs, and was the first to invent Cookies 'n Cream ice cream!!! Bet you didn't know that, did you? Try SDSU's ice cream during a campus visit and be amazed!

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

SDSU has precisely the program I need to lead my future career: Being an Endangered Animal Breeder! I'll major in Wildlife and Fisheries, get my Bachelor's, and pursue to assist animals like the snub-nosed monkey and the Komodo Dragon to grow and prosper! SDSU also has several majors that may include a variety of careers, though SDSU is best known for it's agricultural practices.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

SDSU has a requirement to live in the dorms for your first two years. I haven't been able to actually live in one of their dorms yet, but SDSU has excellent quality in it's furnishings from what I've seen, and I'm eager to move in during the fall.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

SDSU has a variety of meal plans and dining services, though most of the on-campus restaurants include Chinese or sandwiches. I haven't yet chosen a meal plan, so I'm not familiar with the food and dining at SDSU.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

SDSU offers a variety of clubs, sports, activities, and hobbies for it's students to get involved with college. They offer study abroad to several countries, have movie nights on campus, host over 200 different clubs ranging from Harry Potter to Sky Diving, have weight and aerobic rooms, and even have a new rock-climbing wall! Personally, I might spend most of my time in the campus library, which offers hundreds of books for research and pleasure.
