Review of South Carolina State University

from Macon, GA

Describe your college in three sentences.

If you are adventurous, outgoing, and enjoy a challenge, SC State is for you. Being here teaches you how to separate yourself from competitors and how to sell your skills in a limited amount of time and words. I cannot imagine being anywhere else.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Network, network, network. Sometimes i's not what you know, but who you know, no matter where you are. You also will NEVER know who you could be talking to, so being professional and polite are very important.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

The basic classes aren't that hard. The rigor truly begins when you start taking classes for your specific major. However, there are multiple tutoring services on-campus and even one right outside of campus.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

Freshmen dorms are much different that upperclassmen dorms. Although I did not really like some of the dorm activities, I did meet more people than expected during events.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

There are tons of dining services on-campus from starbucks, pizza hut, to the cafeteria. There is always something for everybody.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

We have parties on-campus, water fights, concerts, anything you can think of, we probably have it.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

You will definitely get what you pay for a SC State and more.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Go ahead and get yourself a dance together for Pass the Peas and Get up for the Bulldogs!

Which types of students will excel at your college?

African-American International Caucasian club-oriented people

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?
