Maegan's Review

Review of Santa Rosa Junior College

from Rohnert Park, CA

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

The amount of classes available can be overwhelming, make sure you talk to a counselor about where you want to transfer (UC or CSU) because the general educational requirements are different for each. Classes on almost everything are offered, make sure to play around and take things that interest you, especially if you don't know your major! Professors are usually available for extra help too.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

There is a really good vibe around campus (Santa Rosa campus) and there are plenty of people to meet as well as tons of clubs and sports.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

Tuition is low, and the college is ranked in the top 5 in the country! The opportunities available for the cost is awesome.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Pass your classes the first time around, and make sure you don't take the wrong class. It can be really easy to stay for more than two years, but if you plan to transfer keep on top of your classes! If you need help, most professors are available in their office for one-on-one assistance. Talk to the colleges you plan to transfer to so you know you are taking the correct classes to transfer, and meet with a JC counselor to get approval for classes and an academic plan (MAP).

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Students who want to save money but have lots of options for classes. Student who want to complete all their lower division core classes as well as general ed. Students who want to get an Associates Degree or get into an Occupational Program.
