Jillian's Review

Review of Salve Regina University

from Wakefield, RI

In which ways do you feel you are learning and growing?

Everyday, my professors push me academically and mentally. They want us to succeed in life, so they give us fundamental ways to remember material and push us to want to learn more. I am growing as a person as I learn more about self respect and diligence in my studies.

How are you enjoying your time at this college?

This college is everything I hoped it would be. There is fun and engaging activities daily on campus, not to mention, downtown Newport is close by and offers shopping and eating with friends. Also, I feel I am learning more everyday with the help of my amazing professors.

What tips can you share with prospective students?

Check out downtown Newport, as there is lots to be seen and done. Also, I reccomend choosing a major you are interested in and something that suits your strength level.

What qualities do you have that have best prepared you for success at this institution?

Intelligence, diligence, explorative, creative, kind, confidence.

In what ways do you feel this college challenges students academically?

Professors engage with students in the classroom and ask prodding questions. They want everyone to feel prepared and supported and teach the material in a meaningful manner.

How would you describe the dorm life at this school?

Very good! I lived in Miley Hall my freshman year, and it was clean, well kept, quiet, and cheerful. I had an ocean view from my window!

How would you describe the food and dining options?

Very good! There is an option to cook things yourself, healthy vegan or GF sections, and different things every night!

In your experience, what is there to do for fun at this college?

Go downtown, beach is 10-20 mins away, trolley is free for students and does not take long to get around the island!

Are there any quirky or unique traditions that make your college special?

We are a private catholic institution, so we have many days off and fun events to celebrate our founder Catherine McAuley and the sisters of mercy.

How has your college supported your career development and future goals?

As I become closer to getting my RN license, this school has prepared me very well. I feel confident in my ability to be skill assessed and start clinical rotations next year. My professors have encouraged me to think outside the box and my peers are a very supportive community.
