Review of Salt Lake Community College

from Sandy, UT

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

The class sizes are average for most classes and the teachers and professors are extremely helpful. The classes seem to have just the right amount of homework, enough to challenge you, but not so much that it is stressful. The curriculum is flexible enough to fit your own personal learning style.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

The campuses are always clean and the faculty and staff are friendly. There is a wide variety of people going there at all different ages so you get to meet a lot of interesting people.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

The main reason for my going to SLCC is that it is a lot cheaper than going to a University. I still plan to go to one to get my Bachelors, but SLCC is a cheaper alternative and can transfer credits to almost any other school in Utah. The lower price doesn't mean lower quality though. SLCC is rated #3 in the nation. So you get a quality education for a better cost.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

I would suggest researching instructors before signing up for classes. Most of the faculty is great, but there are those one or two instructors you want to avoid. I would also suggest parking in the parking lots on the South side of campus. They are always less crowded then those on the North.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

SLCC is great for those who wish to get a good education, but have a tight budget. It is also good for those people who like variety in classes.
