I'm a double major in Theatre Arts and Fine Arts. I couldn't be happier. I have Professors that are available everyday anytime to talk about anything I need to talk about. The Professors are very passionate and talented in what they do and are more than willing to share their experiences with us. There is also a great deal of support available and opportunity, no matter what year you are in. As a Freshman I was able to design one student production already. There is not barrier for you to succeed. The philosophy of most professors in my particular area is that one can only learn by living it. Thus from the first year and beyond, students are immersed in the Main Stage Productions and learn on the job. This is great for us because it helps us discover our practical strengths and weakness as well as it shows us how to apply techniques taught in theory. I been learning a lot from my professors. Another wonderful thing is the learning that happens among peers. Because of our program size we develop close relationships with our peers. This friendly intermingling of Juniors and Seniors with Freshman and Sophomores allows for a mutual exchange of knowledge that develops strong professionals after 4 years.
Do you enjoy the experience at your school?
It might sound crazy, but an University with 10,000 students couldn't be more intimate than Rowan. From the friendly professors to an openminded campus of friends. Every student makes strong bonds here.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
Simply the amount of individual attention you have here from professors is incredible. The University could improve some of the theatre facilities. But the price is great.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Like any college, go the tour and ask at lest 4 students what they think about the school. At Rowan though you are welcomed to email, call and arrange a visit to meet any professor or department chair and ask them any questions you may have or your parents may have about the school.
Which types of students will excel at your college?
Passionate, Creative, and that want practical experience in their field.
