Review of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

from Jasper, IN

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

Rose-Hulman is definitely a fast-paced school! This means I am learning a lot fast. Sometimes it feels like we are moving too quickly, but there are plenty of opportunities to get homework help! The Learning Center is open all week (during the day and in the evening). There you will find tutors that are able to help you understand the homework you're having trouble with.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

There are tons of different clubs and activities you can get involved in which is great because it gives you a chance to do something other than homework! However one of the best things about Rose is the feeling of community. Everyone is so nice and helpful. We even have what we call 'open door' policy which basically means everyone leaves their dorm doors open. This isn't required but it helps build the sense of community and since we have such a small, close-knit community things are rarely stolen.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

I love Rose-Hulman, but I will admit it is expensive to attend. It feels worth the money for me because it is a prestigious school and upon graduation I will be able to attain a career to pay off my loans. I also love the school's environment and the availability of homework help and tutors.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Be ready to work hard! Rose-Hulman can be a lot of fun, but you have to commit a lot of time and effort into your schoolwork. A lot of students that attend Rose didn't have to try very hard to make A's in high school. That changes when you get to Rose.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

-Students wanting to pursue engineering -Students interested in math and science -Students that prefer a small school / close community
