Describe your college in three sentences.

First of all, I love IPFW because of the endless free gifts, free academic help, and free food that they are constantly offering us because what college student doesn't love free stuff? Additionally, another important detail of my school is that my classmates are kind, caring, simply decent students. Lastly, while I've had extremely caring professors during my first year, I urge every student search the professor he/she is thinking about having on RateMyProfessor because there are a few difficult teachers at IPFW.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

As I noted earlier, I suggest that every student does a little research about the professor they will soon have. That will be a big factor in your grade because it was for mine. Don't be afraid to take communication classes like I was. I have social anxiety and I dreaded taking a communications class, but when the semester was finally coming to a close, I was extremely sad because I really did enjoy my classmates and all the life lessons my professor taught me. Take notes for a class before hand! This is advice I wish I followed during the beginning of my freshmen year. I would look at the syllabus before hand, take notes on the chapters, then when I went to class it was a lot easier to understand. Additionally, if you have a science or math class that gives homework online all at once, take advantage of your time and do as much homework ahead of time as you can! This cost me a B in Calculus because I forgot an online quiz and ended with a C+.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Most of my classes were courses that would require thinking and critical skills to understand, but it was easy once I got the hang of it. Went from a C on my first exam to all A's on my last three in a biology course.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

I lived in apartments across from campus, but my friends did live in the dorms. I heard they were a lot like apartments, but the wi-fi cut out a lot.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

Okay, I'm just going to say it. Food is too expensive for college kids. I believe the cafeteria was selling a slice of pizza for four dollars. A little bottle of grape juice was more than a jug of the same brand at the supermarket down the street. Food was okay, not anything fantastic, but you'd hope that a college campus would at least have prices the same or lower than stores, right?

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

Lots of activities ranging from a free carnival, blow up jumping houses, multiple clubs including LoL, dog therapy, pool and chess, computer labs that aren't ever completely full, so you can just watch videos and movies there. The just opened the new library and it's extremely calm, comfortable, and quiet. I like sitting on the third floor next to the windows at sunset because of the nice views.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

I feel safe at my college during the day. Just watch out for all the long boarders. If you are the long boarder, watch out for all the pine cones. I've seen about three people fly off their board from catching a pine cone. During the night, I feel like there could be more lighting. Maybe a cop walking around. I would also like to see emergency phones on the walks. On many occasions I've used the 24 hr computer lab and had to walk bad to my car on a dimly lit path. Always bring pepper. I've been walked back to my car by a professor who's class ended at 9 pm a few times.
