Review of Pennsylvania State University-Penn State Hazleton

from Ringtown, PA

Describe your college in three sentences.

Penn State Hazleton has a lot to offer, from the physical campus itself to the faculty and staff. The students are just as helpful and very kind. In my eyes, this school is highly recommended.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Anyone who is even thinking about going to Penn State Hazleton already has made a good choice. This school is good for on campus students and commuters. I am a commuter and enjoy going there everyday to take part in classes and the activities on campus.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

The classes I have had and do have are up to the standards. They are different than high school classes which is expected and hold up to what should be taught. They aren't necessarily hard but the classes give you what you need to know. All of the teachers are helpful and there are also tutors for each class if needed.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

I myself do not live on campus but from what I hear, dorm life is nice.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

The food in the Butler building (the Cafe) is very good. They provide healthy food and a good amount of it for the price. They even have Starbucks for drinks and they make their own pastries.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

For fun there are many activities including exercising, walking in the woods by campus, taking part in bingo, and fundraisers. Yoga and Insanity takes place every week if not more, which will keep anyone busy.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

This school is pretty cheap in my eyes and what you pay for you get. Not that you will be getting less for the price, but everyone you pay or will be a benefit to you. There is a bus that goes through campus and off campus, a library where you have printing privileges through your payment and many other things.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

A lot of the buildings on campus weren't built for the school and go back along time. They remained on the property and are used for offices and classrooms.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

There are a ton of activities and clubs on this campus and if there is something you aren't interesting in, you can create something of your own.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

The campus is very safe between the campus police and emergency booths throughout campus. If you ever have a problem you can contact the police on campus, or call 911 which will contact campus police right away. There are many emergency booths in case there is a problem, all you do is press a button and someone will be there asap.
