from Gulfport, MS

Describe your college in three sentences.

Mississippi Gulf Coast is one of the best community colleges in the country. School spirit, amazing band, superb athletics department and dedicated teachers. Definitely a great way to follow up after High school.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Community college is a great way to make the switch from high school to college. And it ends up being cheaper to complete 2-3 years in community college then go to the college of your choice. You'll save lots of money, yet still having a great time earning your education.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

The teachers are some of the most dedicated and hard-working teachers I've ever met. It's pretty inspiring to myself to see how much they love their jobs.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

Dorm life is great at Perkinston so far. I can't wait for my second year there.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

The cafeteria always has delicious food and the drink fountains are the best.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

In my spare time at Perkinston, I take band. I am on drumline and we are very dedicated at what we do.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

Gulf Coast football games are the best to be at. Great players and amazing fans. The football players love the band and can't get enough of us when we play in the stands and march during half time.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

In band, they hold a milk drinking contest every year and the winner gets a prize.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Perkinston has many clubs, classes and programs that almost the whole college takes part in. It's great to see so many people active.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

Basketball, step team, marching band, football, soccer, baseball, intermural sports, theatre, choir, jazz band, indoor drumline

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

Not very sure about this. I may get more into it my sophomore year.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

The campus police keep a watchful eye on what happens around campus. I feel safer here than home sometimes. Dorms are only accessable if you are registered to live in that dorm.
