Review of Mississippi College

from Bullard, TX

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

With MC being a smaller university you get the small, almost high school-like class settings which makes it easier to get questions answered, not get lost and drown, and also MC has awesome teachers! All of them are very concerned about your progress and go the extra step to help you out and make sure that you understand. With convenient office hours you can always see your teachers after class to discuss questions, homework or anything else you may need help with. Tutoring sessions are available but if your not the type for that than you can always find fellow students that will gladly help you and some even form study groups.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

MC is a very homey campus. It is spacious while also being close-knit so that you can get across campus in less than 10 minutes. With the history that MC carries it is also one of the most beautiful campuses you will ever visit! MC also has several ways for you to plug in and be included some where. Whether it is tribes/clubs (MC versions of fraternities and sororities), on-campus missions/ministries (Baptist Student Union, Lighthouse Ministries, Reformed Union Fellowship), intramural s, academic clubs, international cubs, resident life, and more. There are countless ways for you to get involved and become part of the MC family! :)

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

Mississippi College makes sure that you can get everything out of your dollar that you are spending to go to this school. They have a health clinic that is free for students with caring physicians, a healthplex which has all kinds of workout equipment for you to use to beat stress, along with basketball courts, aerial track, ping pong tables, pool, sauna, and whirlpool. Other than the campus cafeteria, we also have a coffee and sandwich shop and a grill for when you need a quick pick me up between classes.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Be sure to make an appointment to come by and visit the campus yourself. A current student will show you around and tell you more about the campus and campus life. While you're there talk to as many people as you can and see how they feel about MC (they could be a future classmate and friend). Come to campus with a good sense of discipline to get your work done early and on time so that you can excel in school and also enjoy the social side of college! Get to know your admission counselor! They are some great people who know all about MC who would love to get to know you and help you out with any questions you may have.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Mississippi College is a great cultural blend of every type of person and student. We have people who live right around the corner to people from India and China. And because MC offers so many different activities and clubs you can always find somewhere to connect and plug in. If you are not of the Baptist denomination, don't worry! MC is very open and welcoming to everyone who attends or visits.
