Review of Milwaukee School of Engineering

from Coon Rapids, MN

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

MSOE is a tough school, there is no doubt there. Although the teachers are enjoyable, they are very rigorous and know their stuff. Occasionally you run into a teacher that hasn't been around as long and you will end up teaching yourself as much as you learn from the teacher. In general, the rigor of the classes allows for vast understanding and understanding of how to apply what you learn.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

I really do enjoy the classes. The teachers are great for the most part, and the rigor keeps you challenged at every turn of every quarter of class. Sometimes, school keeps you so busy you cannot have an outside life like a job which can be a problem for some. Also, MSOE is not much for partying. The male to female ratio holds steady around 4 to 1.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

This school is not a cheap one. Although they aren't, they offer a great academic scholarship to almost every student. They invest a lot into the school between high quality teachers and lab equipment. They also provide state-of-the-art laptops to every student that are renewed every 2 years (that you get to keep when you graduate). This is great so no one is at a disadvantage when it comes to the computer they can afford.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

If you are looking for a challenge, this is the place for you. Don't come here expecting parties every night or to find your next girlfriend. This school is very down to earth when it comes to their curriculum but keep students busy their entire scholarly career.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

If you like math and science in a smaller college atmosphere, this is the place for you. It is a great school and they will do anything and everything they can to get you a job. Just be ready to work long and hard for the years you are here.
