Review of Michigan State University

Describe your college in three sentences.

I don't need three sentences, I just need three words. Study, Party, Succeed. Those are the three things you will accomplish at this school. By far the most well rounded school in the Big 10.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

The first thing you probably here about MSU is that it is a big party university. That's no lie haha. But if you do not know how to manage your time, study, and forget that academics come first, that party isn't going to last a long time. My favorite thing about MSU is the people. Everyone really wants to do well academically but at the same time loves to have a good time.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

You have to study. I've learned it's much better just to do a little everyday and stay on top of things than to try and cram for an exam a couple of days before. If you don't study your gonna be going home. Its not undo able or extremely difficult, but you just have to put in the effort and know when you should be studying instead of doing other things.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

I had to live in the dorms for two years, and although I was ready to get the heck out of their I still had a great time. The dorms are great in that you get to meet so many people all around your age. Don't just stick to your floor. Walk around and say hi. Trust me everyone want to meet you.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

I gave the food and dining four stars because there are so many places to eat on Grand River, and cafe food is good compared to most school. The only thing with the cafe food is that it can get really repetitive.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

There is so much to do at MSU. There are workout places, parties, sporting events (get your football tickets early before they sell out), and plain just hanging with your buds. Take advantage of the many opportunities this school has to offer. Time goes by fast in college so don't wait to join something or get active your junior year. Get active as a freshman.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I wouldn't say that it is a tradition but St. Patricks day is the best at MSU. Litteraly a sea of grean all over campus and Grand River. The parties that day are bumpin and it usually is one of the last great party weekends of the year. Don't get me wrong there are parties every weekend but not like the one's on St. Patricks day. Also word of advice: Pace yourself. The parties at night are just as good if not better than the ones during the day. Don't pull what my buddy and I did last year and pass out from 5 to 10. We still raged after though.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

If you enjoy being social and love to party, while at the same time you study and want to do well academically this is the place for you. It's right in between CMU and UofM. At CMU everyone just parties and doesn't care about school. At UofM the academics there are the only thing the majority of students care about. They stress out about it like crazy and come off extremely arrogant and self centered. MSU kids care about their grades (like UofM but not as uptight trust me) while having a good time (we can party and hang with CMU bros). Its a great school for everyone. I love it here and cannot believe I only have a little time left.
