At Miami Dade College, I have been lucky enough to have the top-notch Professors who are there to teach students to and I don't mean by just memorizing information for a test and then forgetting it the moment you walk out. Professors make sure you know the material by providing power point hand outs, study guides and test reviews, and allowing you to visit them in their office during their corresponding hours. Teachers take the time to help you understand the material before moving on to another chapter and really focus on YOU! Professors want you to take the information you learned in their class and apply it to your life outside of the classroom.
Do you enjoy the experience at your school?
As an Honors College Student at Miami Dade College, I feel that teachers become part of our family. We go to them for help with school, advice on transferring and just to talk about whatever is on our mind. I have also become very involved in different clubs and organizations where i get to meet different people and really network and establish friendships. Miami Dade has a very comforting environment and a lot of places to study. You can enjoy the quiet setting of a library, browse and search the web in the computer courtyard or just sit outside on a table, pull out your books and study under the sunlight while experiencing the cool shade of the trees.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
Miami Dade College is not expensive to begin with and either way, there is financial aid offered. Most people attending Miami Dade college receive financial aid assistance or get a loan from Miami Dade and create a payment plan in order to pay it off. Unfortunately, I am biased in this area because as a Miami Dade Honors College Student, everything is paid for so there are no worries in that aspect. You're allowed to take as many classes as you want (and pass them of course) without any worries of having the sufficient funds to pay the tuition and any other fees. Either way, you're getting what you pay for - if not more at Miami Dade College!
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Take advantage of all the different opportunities Miami Dade College has to offer. Apply for the different Study Abroad programs, get involved in different clubs and organizations and establish a relationship with ALL of your professors, whether you like them or not. Don't sell yourself short and think oh, this is just Miami-Dade because it is a great stepping stone to start your path onto success and there are so many people that are willing to help you and guide you along the way! Take advantage of what you have at Miami Dade while you're there.
Which types of students will excel at your college?
