McDaniel is a college with a beautiful campus and some vibrant students. Because of its size, the teachers all get to know their students and truly care about them. The campus is also small enough to get around quickly, from end to end.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Come visit. It is pretty much what you see is what you get.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
The intensity of your classes really does depend upon what your major is. We're a liberal arts college generally, but some of the biology classes (undergrad) are taught on a grad-school level.
Describe the dorm life at your college.
There are various dorms throughout campus, and each one is different. Chances are that you won't get an apartment until your senior year though, but all that means is you won't have a kitchen. The nicer the dorm, the more expensive so just make sure you can afford what you get.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
Right now we have Englar Dining Hall (our cafeteria) and the pub as our main food, but there is a vocelli's on campus now so you can have pizza on demand (and they'll deliver to your dorm).
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
We have various programs for students and things to do (especially on weekends) ranging from comedians and singers visiting to karaoke nights in the pub. We also have certain set events like Spring Fling every year that definitely make our campus life more fun.
Which types of students will excel at your college?
We have an AMAZING theater department and our theater is certainly proud of it. That may be one of the most intense things here.
Are you involved in any clubs or activities?
They say Greek Life isn't big here, but it is present. We have certain floors for fraternities and sororities and there are more than you will know of when you start. We don't haze though, so... Cheers.
How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?
Every student should put Campus Safety's number into their phone at the start of the year and sign up for orgsync and other programs we have to promote safety. You'll get text alerts if the school closes or if there is any threat to the campus, as well as being able to call campo if you don't feel safe-- and then they'll be there.
