Review of Los Angeles Harbor College

from San Pedro, CA

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

I am learning a lot. The professors are great, though there will always be some that you may not enjoy. The classrooms are great, very neat, a good environment to learn in.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

Actually I am not enjoying that much, but its because I really want to transfer and go to my dream school. BUT I dont regret coming here. It is a good start for those who are still trying to figure out what they want to do, or even if you know , and plus its very cheap, so you can get your general classes done quickly without paying thousands of dollars.. The campus is great, they are remodeling it and its looks so nice compared to other schools. I have to say I am glad that I came here first.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

Love the finicial aid offered here. Its the best descions I ever made comign here first. I am saving some of the money that I earn from finicial aid and from the money you save, and saving that to an account for when I transfer. I dont think I could have done that if I didnt come here. But I have to warn that it all depends on the student, if you dont manage your money well then whats the points, you are not really saving the money or receiving help in the long run. There are also other programs that help out such as EOP&S.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Dont let other students influence you. I feel like many students who enter to community colleges either dont want to be there because its the easy way out, or just dont want to work right after high school. Dont let those people bug you. Manage your time and money! It all depends on the students, here they provide the materials that you need to learn, transfer to a university and be successful, but you have to take advantage of those things.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Anyone!
