Review of Laramie County Community College

from Cheyenne, WY

Did learn a lot

The instructors I had were very enthusiastic about what they taught and most made the topics they taught fairly accessible. The small class sizes made it easier to get extra attention from instructors.

Did enjoy being here

Even though this school is small, it was very dynamic! There was almost always something going on, some of them school sponsored some of them sponsored by the clubs there. There are also many international and nontraditional students who introduced me to different cultures and ways of thinking and other experiences.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

When I started out at LCCC, it was really reasonably priced; but in the last couple of years, tuition has gone up considerably. LCCC's tuition is creeping its way to being as much as the University of Wyoming's tuition.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Start sooner rather than later. Submit test scores and transcripts as soon as you can. From personal experience, if you wait too long to register for a class, you won't get in it, and classes, other then the freshman level classes, are offered only once every academic year. Missing out on a class can delay graduation.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Great if you need a more gentle transition into college or if finances are tight (room and board and books are significantly cheaper than UW). Also good if you graduate from high school early and are worried about hitting snags because you're still a minor. LCCC is very accommodating to high-school aged students.
