Jacksonville College is a nice slow paced environment in a rural setting where instructors are really interested in your success. Instructors make themselves available to students for any issues students have concerns about or wish to discuss.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
If you are planning to succeed, plan on studying and doing the assignments you are given. If you are in college to play, spare your parents the expense. Loafing now could really bite you later.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
I think academic rigor is based on the amount of burden you put on yourself. What are you here to accomplish? Twelve to fourteen hours per semester are enough to take on. You may stress yourself with eighteen hours. Some students do this and do well. It takes a lot of focus. I do not recommend it.
Describe the dorm life at your college.
Dorms are descent. But there are rules to abide by so that the environment is pleasing to everyone. Respect for fellow students is really all that is asked.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
The cafeteria is open for three meals on weekdays and two meals on weekend days. The food is usually good but there are days when it seems there is too much pasta or breaded products such as pizza and hot pockets. Evening meals could use a little more variety.
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
There are billiard tables in the Student Union Building along with table tennis. Out doors there is volly ball, basketball, soccer, and areas to play frisby or other activities.
