In which ways do you feel you are learning and growing?

the experience of going to college is a learning experience for anyone. as a studio art major i have learned unique techniques from 2d to 3d mediums. there are also some non-major classes that have made me think deeper about the world and humanity and i have been helped with some critical thinking as a sophmore. but there have also been profs that are academically hit or miss for most, which i assume happens if you go to any university.

How are you enjoying your time at this college?

as a creative person i am enjoying the studio art classes, and i enjoy the long hike up in the woods that surround the college. there is a tight spaced community. i was lucky enough to find good friends from the dining hall because we were the only 2 people who actually wore a my chemical romance tshirt. also the dress code is very casual for a private christian college.

What tips can you share with prospective students?

be fruitful of the ingredients at the dining hall, there are always more options of food to make yourself.
bring a skateboard, roller skates, or scooter, people never steal scooters cus i see them sitting outside of a building all the time. although the sidewalks have cracks if you have regular sized skateboard wheels.
start with a decent amount of classes so you have room to get enough credits out of the way in case you have to withdraw from one (which i did, not that most people will).

In what ways do you feel this college challenges students academically?

if you want to succeed in class pretty well, you'll be put to work studying, that's for sure.

How would you describe the food and dining options?

there are 5 different stations in the dining hall, always pizza and always bagels and bread and ingredients for the diy cooking station. the food had its ups and downs, they tend to over complicate the featured foods sometimes. the food is better than your average dining hall. the best thing is that in the basement of the dining hall there is a resturant type thing of regular chicken tenders, burger and fries and ice cream sorta thing but you have to spend money there instead but its always open if you dont want the free dining hall food.

In your experience, what is there to do for fun at this college?

skating, biking, walking in the woods, hanging out during open hours in my friends' dorms, art studio stuff, but not many clubs to go to. the nearest cities to shop or anything will be about 40 minutes away. when it flooded, it was fun to run barefoot in the giant puddles with some people.

Are there any quirky or unique traditions that make your college special?

there is the scarf ceremony for the freshmen, the SPOT talent show every semester is one of the best and funniest events, for orientation we watched the princess bride outside. i heard of the student ginger race, but they DIDNT DO IT this saint patricks day! i was so bummed. we even have unlimited lucky charms cereal for it.

How does this institution support campus safety or mental health and wellness programs?

there are a few lovely free therapists who are there to listen. there are also crafts sometimes in the wellness center. the campus is very much seldom known for any crime or danger when walking alone at night. well, at least i speed walk. its very peaceful and quiet outside at night for most of the year. they have security. but ive heard of them currently being sometimes annoying and will ticket your dead car MULTIPLE times if youre not parked at the one parking lot were allowed to park in despite having a parking pass being a student so idk. one time me and my friends got stuck in the elevator in the campus center for 20 minutes and we had to wait after we called the securtity and we got out totally safe fr.
