Review of Glendale Community College

from Glendale, CA

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

Glendale Community College has some wonderful faculty. The teachers are hard working despite major cut backs at the college. No matter what, the teachers encourage you to push beyond what you normally do with your learning abilities to go outside of your comfort zone. I've learned how to communicate more effectively with fellow students as well as I've become more open to asking questions and requesting tutoring from my teachers. I'd definitely take advantage of their tutoring opportunities because they are very helpful.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

The campus is well kept and the plaza, Plaza Vaquero, is green with well kept grass and trees. There are plenty of tables to sit at outside, a two floor library, and two levels to the cafeteria for people to relax with friends or study quietly. I really enjoy being able to walk across campus in about 5 minutes. My only issue with the school is that smoking is permitted so I would recommend doing your best to avoid the smoking sections of the school if you are a non-smoker.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

This is a great college to attend if you are in need of help financially. The tuition for classes is about $26 dollars per unit. This has helped me save a lot of money as I pay for my general education classes in order to transfer to another school. Just make sure you fill out both the FAFSA and BOG in time so you can receive your financial aid on time rather than the end of the semester.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Any student that attends Glendale Community College should complete their financial aid forms as soon as possible. A lot of people wait until the last minute to complete these forms so there are always long lines during the summer and fall class sessions. I'd also recommend completing your registration as soon as possible so you will be placed under priority registration when trying to get all your classes. And if you have a car, get the parking permit. They are a little expensive, but they are worth it if you have to spend a lot of time at school.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Glendale Community College is a great school to go to if you need a school that doesn't cost too much. It is great to attend if you live in the area and are unable to drive yet as well. The counselors are pretty helpful so I'd recommend attending here if you want to go to school for a cheaper tuition while you try to transfer to another school.
