Rayana's Review

Review of Georgia State University-Perimeter College

from Snellville, GA

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

A lot of the work is review from high school, but don't let that get to you. The professors move at a fast pace and they expect you to keep up. They have no mercy, even if this is your first semester in college. It's easy to make friends here, and you will meet people from every part of the world and of every age.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

I enjoy my time at Perimeter, more or less. I had my choice of several other schools, but I could not afford them so I was stuck with GPC. In the long run, I know I made the better decision instead of taking out a loan. There's not a college feel to it, but there's always something to do.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

DEFINITELY. There's no way that you can find a better deal. It's a great plan for someone who plans to transfer to a 4 year school (like me). Take your prerequisites or get an associate and transfer out. They even have the TAG with many schools in Georgia and even a few out of state. That TAG will save you! The money that you could be spending to learn the same things you would be at another 4 year university will be in your pocket.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Stay on top of things, stay organized with dates. Go to class! You won't have massive lecture halls to hide in, the class sizes are very small. Make friends with the people around you, it makes things a lot easier. Keep an open mind when you talk to people. Your classmates are the most diverse you can imagine, ranging from age to ethnicity to background. Everyone has a story to tell, listen to them.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Cash-strapped students, those with a family, looking to meet a diverse crowd, focused on education and education only
