Review of Georgia Gwinnett College

from Auburn, GA

Describe your college in three sentences.

Georgia Gwinnett College, home of the Grizzlies, has been an amazing experience. I originally wanted to go to the big state institutions and universities, but coming here was my blessing in disguise, because with its small beginning came great opportunities. That is why everyday I am thankful my friend told me to put in my application in the middle of yearbook class in my senior year of high school

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Teacher to student Ratio: 1:25 and sometimes as low as fifteen students in certain courses. Georgia Gwinnett College focuses heavily on student success and student involvement meaning your Professors care! Flexible class sizes, awesome professors, a great college experience.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Your mentors, your advisor, and your professors all work collectively to ensure your academic success.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

Our Suite-styled residence hall include furniture, awesome singular person rooms that come with lock and key and guess what? Flat screens come standard here at GGC!

Describe the food and dining at your college.

Our chef's make delicious foods that cater to any diet. food ranges from savory brisket to cheesy risotto and more!

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

I attend campus- wide events, such as Miami nights, movie presentations, participate in student organizations or go with the Outdoor and Recreation staff on a Snowboarding/Ski trip which was awesome!!

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

The school is a college and not a university because our president, President Kaufman, believes in being here for the students, in order to ensure our student success. So instead of money going towards research funding, he believes that it should go toward student success programs that ensure that every student accepted has the same tools as everyone else to achieve. He also believes that student focus is greater than a rese3arch focus. That is one of the many reasons why I love it here.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have this structure that is called the Arch of Knowledge but looks more like the elbow of Knowledge as I sometimes jokingly tell the perspective students I give tours to. What I love about this tradition, that was inspired by President Kaufman and as to why we have a ceremony concerning this structure every year for the new freshman. This tradition symbolizes that when you come to Georgia Gwinnett College, you enter as a learner. When you graduate, you sigh the Covenant and walk out under the Arch symbolizing your release as a leader. This tradition touches me every year during this ceremony because here at Georgia Gwinnett College, we want to inspire life-long learners, always,

Which types of students will excel at your college?

GGC is great for any student that is looking to further their educational experience at an affordable price, because hey, the more affordable college is now, the likelihood you would like to continue your education I feel.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

We have over 100 Registered Student Organizations (RSO). you can start your RSO with 5 signatures of those interested in the same idea and voila! You have your own organization and with time, you can receive funds to sponsor your events for the school! How awesome is that!

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

There is currently no Greek Life yet, as there is a need for an entire department focused to this as we are growing, but no worries! It will come!

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

At Georgia Gwinnett College, we are highly committed to student safety which is why we have 24 hour campus security, Security that can escort anyone to their vehicles, and RAVE alert which sends everyone on campus a text message, a phone call, and an email whenever a threat is present. This is done because we value our students and are tight on secure measures because we always strive to be safe rather than sorry.
