gcsu is a wonderful college. there are many majors and majors to choose. there are also many clubs, organizations, sororities, and fraternities to join.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
please take advantage of the free tutoring service. instead of printing out notes (i.e. handouts and power point slides), write down all the notes. this helps you understand it better. join at least one club or organization, so you can make friends, go on trips, and learn new things. do not take too many electives. finish your core before taking any electives.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
some classes are easy. other classes are hard. many professors are nice enough to help students when needed. there are professors who take attendance as well as professors who do not. the professors who take attendance will allow 3 or 4 absences and grade reductions for each subsequent absence.
Describe the dorm life at your college.
in the dorms, all the furniture and utilities are provided. you just need your college stuff, linens, and a mini-refrigerator and microwave to prepare your meals. there is a policy of no alcohol under 21. yes, ids will be checked! also, there are quiet hours at night, meaning no noise is allowed at night. the only pets allowed are fish in a 10-gallon tank. no other pets are allowed! anytime residents have a problem, there are resident assistants (ras) to help out. if you would like an apartment style housing, there are on-campus apartments called the village. the same policies discussed in this section are used there. all freshmen have to live on campus (either the dorms or village apartments). after that, they can live in anywhere on or off campus.

most of the food in the dining hall is good. some of the food is not. the original dining hall has been remodeled into a huge dining hall with many different stations to choose from. there is everything from fast food to international foods to desserts. on the weekends, there is a yummy omelet bar. some delicious meals are polenta and thai green curry. the university has coffee shops and restaurants for very affordable prices-do not miss it! you can get a pizza, cappuccino, or calzone- all here on campus!!!

go to the student activities center to play pool or ping pong, study for tests, do homework, or relax in the massage chairs! color in a coloring book! watch a movie or show on campus! attend the free events!!!
